Method and assumptions
Figur looks up each format’s published trimmed dimensions. It converts inches using exactly 1 in = 25.4 mm, shows centimeters by dividing by 10, and changes orientation by swapping width and height. Area and long-edge-to-short-edge ratio are compared separately.
- Dimensions describe the trimmed sheet, without bleed, crop marks, printable margins, or device tolerances.
- ISO formats use their nominal millimeter dimensions; included North American and photo formats use their nominal inch dimensions.
- Two sheets can have similar areas but different aspect ratios, so they are not exact layout substitutes.
Size reference only. It does not configure bleed, print pricing, printer drivers, DPI, or image resizing. Confirm final production requirements with the printer or device.

Frequently asked questions
Is A4 the same as US Letter?
No. A4 is narrower and taller in portrait orientation, and its aspect ratio differs from Letter. A layout may need margins, reflow, or cropping when moved between them.
Does landscape change the paper size?
No. It only makes the long edge the width. The sheet dimensions, area, and underlying proportions stay the same.
