Nautical and Aviation Unit Converter

Convert common boating and aviation references among nautical miles, statute miles, kilometers, feet, meters, flight levels, knots, mph, km/h, hPa, inHg, mmHg, and pascals. Units are visibly grouped and incompatible dimensions are rejected. Results are a reference only—not a substitute for operational instruments, charts, approved flight planning, weather, or safety decisions.

Method and assumptions

Figur converts within four independent groups: distance through meters, altitude through meters, speed through m/s, and pressure through pascals. It rejects every cross-group pair.

  • 1 nautical mile is exactly 1852 m; 1 statute mile is exactly 1609.344 m; and 1 foot is exactly 0.3048 m.
  • A flight level is displayed as hundreds of feet for reference conversion; operational use depends on standard pressure, altimetry, and applicable procedures.
  • inHg uses the conventional definition at 0 °C; the numerical result is not a live weather observation or current altimeter setting.

Educational unit reference only. It does not replace operational instruments, charts, NOTAMs, weather data, approved flight or navigation planning, or safety decisions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert knots to nautical miles?

No. Knots measure speed and nautical miles measure distance, so Figur rejects that pair unless time is also known; this tool does not perform route or time planning.

How much precision should I use?

Keep only the precision supported by your source. Displayed digits help with reciprocal checks but do not make an instrument reading or forecast more accurate.
